HISAR A short range surface to air defense missile system on ACV 30 tracked armoured vehicle Turkey defense industry 925 001

Description

The HİSAR is a family of short/medium-range surface to air missile systems being developed by the Turkish Companies Aselsan and Roketsan since 2007. The HISAR-A is the short range version in the HISAR family. The HISAR-A is based on a tracked armoured vehicle ACV-30 manufactured by the Turkish Company FNSS. In June 2011, the Turkish Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM) has signed a contract with the Companies Aselsan and Roketsan to design and develop the HISAR short and medium-altitude air defense missile systems. Under the lead of Aselsan, Roketsan is responsible for the development of the missile while Aselsan has developed the missile launching system, command and control system, fire control system, 3D search radar, and electro-optic systems. The Aselsan Air defense missile system mounted on a self-propelled armored vehicle shall be fully autonomous by means of 3D radar, Electro-Optic system, command control and fire control. At the edition 2015 of IDEF, the International Defense Exhibition in Turkey, Aselsan representative told Army Recognition that three prototypes of the Hisar-A system have been completed, with delivery of the first systems to the Turkish military for qualification planned for 2017. The development and company trials of the HISAR missile system are expected to be completed by the end of 2018.

Variants:

- HISAR-O: medium-range air defense missile system of the HISAR family with a maximum firing range of 25 km, mounted on military 6x6 truck chassis

Technical Data

Armament
The HISAR-A short range air defense missile system is based on the tracked armoured vehicle ACV-30. The vehicle is fitted with four missiles ready to fire, with two launchers containers erected vertically on each side of the vehicle in firing position, while in road position, the canisters are stored on the roof of the hull. The missile is launched vertically from their canister and powered by a dual pulse solid propellant motor. This provides an initial pulse for launch and mid-course flight, and a final sprint pulse during the terminal guidance phase for increased speed.

Missile
The Hisar-A missile has a maximum altitude of 5 km and a maximum overall range of 15 km (at sea level). The HİSAR-A short-altitude uses a high explosive fragmentation warhead, which can be equipped with impact and proximity fuses to effectively destroy airborne targets flying at medium altitudes. The missile is fitted with a midcourse guidance system with Inertial Navigation and Data Link, and terminal Guidance with IIR (Imaging Infrared Seeker).
Mobility
The HISAR-A launcher missile systems is mounted on the FNSS ACV-30 tracked armoured vehicle. All the firing operations are performed from inside of the vehicle. The Hisar-A vehicle is operated by a crew of three including two soldiers to perform all the firing operations and one driver located at the front left top of the hull. A radar and optic mast is erected at the rear of the vehicle during combat operations. In road position, the mast is lowered horizontally on the roof of the vehicle. The hull of the ACV-300 offers protection Level 4 STANAG 4569, firing of small arms 14.5mm caliber at 200 m and 155mm artillery shell splinters at 30mm, and blast protection of 10 kg explosive under the center of the chassis and under the tracks. The vehicle is motorized with a diesel engine developing 600 hp. It can run at a maximum road speed of 65 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 500 km. The suspension consits on each side of six rubber tire road wheel with with the drive sprocket at the front, idler at the rear and track-return rollers. The ACV-30 can climb a gradient of 60% and side slope of 30%. It can cross a trench of 2 m maximum and a vertical obstacle of 0.8m.
Accessories
Standard equipment of the HISAR-A mobile tracked air defense missile system includes NRBC (Nuclear Radiological Biological Chemical) protection system, air conditioning, heating system, automatic fire suppression system and night vision equipment AN/VVS-2. There is a bank of eight smoke grenade dischargers mounted at the front of the hull. The vehicle is fully amphibious and have the capability of propelling themselves in deep and/or fast flowing water. For its self-protection, the HISAR-A is fitted a remotely-operated weapon station mounted at the front left of the hull armed with one 7.62mm machine gun.

Combat Use
The HISAR missile launching system in the short range configuration HISAR-A operates under the control of KORKUT-Fire control System which provides coordinated operation of 35mm towed guns and missile launching system. The tracked armoured vehicle of HISAR-A mounts its own mast-mounted air surveillance 3D radar and an electro-optic/infrared (EO/IR) system, allowing it to operate as an independent standalone system without the need to operate as a battery with a separate FCS (Fire Control System).
