Taiwanese army invests in its communication infrastructure with the SOTM Satcom On The Move.
At TADTE 2013, the Taipei Aerospace and Defense Technology Exhibition, the Taiwanese army presents a new communication vehicle, the SOTM Satcom On The Move. This new vehicle upgrades the existing satellite communication system with enhanced mobile communication capabilities.

The SOTM is based on a Ford F-450, an heavy-duty pickup trucks, which are available in a variety of configurations and three model series are available, the F-250, F-350 and F-450. This pickup is motorized with a 6,300 cc turbo diesel engines which allows the vehicle to run at a maximum road speed of 110 km/h and 40 km/h in off-road conditions.

The crew cab is fitted at the front of the vehicle, and a shelter with the communication equipment and satellite antenna is mounted at the rear of the vehicle. This communication vehicle can be used for military applications or natural disasters missions.

It can provide command and control information, video, and data transmission. The SOTM can be deployed quickly to meet the military communications requirements in the battlefield.

The SOTM is also equipped with a 12KW water-cooled power generator and a self-recovery winch is mounted at the front of the vehicle.

     

A shelter with communication equipment and satellite antenna is mounted at the rear of the vehicle.
