New local-made Bistatic Radar - Passive Receiver System of Taiwanese army for coast surveillance 250

This mobile passive receiver system is equipped with planar phased-array radar which is invisible for enemy radar-seeking missiles and electronic countermeasures. The radar can transmit data about enemy aircraft and helicopters to missile firing vehicles. The whole system is mounted on Daewoo 4x4 military truck.

The radar system consists of newly developed synchronization, digital beamforming and parallel signal processing techniques. This passive radar system can be integrated with existing monostatic radar system to operate as the bistatic or multistatic radar systems.

Those systems will have better target detection probability due to echo returns from variety of direction. The immunity from ECM (Electronic countermeasures) and ARM (Atmospheric Radiation Measurement ) threat is obviously, since the receiver site is without any radiation.

The radar system is designed by Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (CSIST), s a research institute for Taiwanese national Defense.

CSIST has been commissioned to dedicatedly research and develop weapon systems for Taiwanese national defense in the past. Looking back the 38 years history, all the staffs of CSIST have devoted to their works with full hearty endeavor. The results were the accumulation of abundant R&D capacities, and the glory achievements of weapon systems research and development.

A member of the CSIST said that the radar system had completed the first evaluation tests.
