At TADTE 2013, the Taipei Aerospace and Defense Technology Exhibition, the latest generation of 8x8 armoured vehicle personnel CM-32 Yunpao was showed with a turret armed with 40mm automatic grenade launcher and one 7.62mm coaxial machine gun. The Taiwanese Army plans to order up to 1,400 CM-32 vehicles with 368 vehicles entering service by 2017-2018.

The CM-32 is a modular vehicle platform able to be equipped with various armament configurations for specific combat requirements. For the armoured vehicle personnel carrier version, the vehicle is fitted with a light one-man turret armed with a 12.7mm heavy machine gun.
The CM-32 can be used also as mortar carrier armed with a 120mm caliber mortar mounted at the rear of the hull or armed with a 105mm or 120mm to be used as anti-tank combat vehicle. The armoured infantry fighting vehicle is fitted with a two-man turret armed with a 20mm cannon and 12.7mm heavy machine gun. The CM-32 is motorized with a Caterpillar C12 diesel engine with a power of 410hpcoupled to the Allison HD4070 seven-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle can run at a maximum road speed of 120 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 800km. The CM-32 could replace the old M113 tracked armoured vehicle personnel carrier and the V-150 wheeled armoured personnel carrier of the Taiwanese army. The CM-32 is made in all-welded steel armour which provides a protection at the front against firing of 12.7mm heavy machine gun and all-around against 7.62mm caliber machine gun. The V-shape hull provides a protection against mine blast up to 12 kg of TNT under the wheels. |
