Today, May 8, 2018 opening of SOFEX 2018, the International Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference which takes place in Amman from the 8 to 10 May 2018. During the opening ceremony, the Special Forces Units of the Jordanian armed forces have performed a live demonstration with troops and combat helicopters.

The SOFEX which started in 1996 with an initiative from His Majesty King Abdullah II has proven to be an international event with paramount ranking amongst the specialized global defense exhibitions.

SOFEX exhibition is considered to the biggest event in the world showcasing latest defense and security equipment, technologies and innovations in the fields of special forces and internal security, bringing together national and international companies exhibiting full range of military equipment presented to delegations and visitors from all over the world.

The edition 2018 of SOFEX 2018 was inaugurate by His Majesty King Abdullah II and attended by military delegations from many countries. This three-day event brings together more than 350 companies from 35 Arab and foreign countries.

As every two years, the Special Forces Units of the Jordanian armed forces has performed a joint military demonstration during the opening ceremony of SOFEX, simulating hostage rescue and evacuation of wounded personnel during anti-terrorist operation.

During the live demonstration, visitors had the opportunity to see military equipment used by the Jordanian armed forces Rapid Response Unit including transport helicopter Black Hawk and Cobra attack helicopter backed by fighter aircraft.
