The Oshkosh JLTV is the next-generation light tactical wheeled vehicle with an unprecedented combination of protection, mobility, transportability, and net-ready systems integration that delivers the network capability of a mobile command center.

"The JLTV will replace a large portion of the aging uparmored High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) fleet to fill a capability gap in light vehicle fleets," said Bill Mooney, regional vice president of Middle East and North Africa for Oshkosh Defense. "Our vehicle will give soldiers the next-generation light tactical vehicle with greater protection, transportability, and off-road mobility."

Weighing less than 6,350 kg at curb weight, the JLTV maintains MRAP levels of protection. The JLTV uses the TAK-4i™ intelligent independent suspension system, the next-generation of Oshkosh's advanced TAK-4® independent suspension system, to deliver 25 percent improved wheel travel while providing improved ride quality for soldiers.

Additionally, the TAK-4i can be raised and lowered using interior operator controls to meet sea, air, and land transportability requirements. The JLTV can be air transported internally by a C-130, C-5 and C-17, or externally by CH-47 and CH-53.

Based on the Oshkosh Light Combat Tactical All-Terrain Vehicle (L-ATV) platform, the Oshkosh JLTV is the U.S. Department of Defense's choice to replace the U.S. fleet of uparmored HMMWV for the Army and Marine Corps. The Oshkosh JLTV has the latest in automotive technologies, as well as the Oshkosh Core1080™ crew protection system, which is an occupant-centric, comprehensive systems engineering approach that considers every inch of the vehicle with respect to crew protection in the event of blast events.
