On display was the Tactical Thuraya Monitoring system with a set of multiple servers installed in a military ruggedized rack giving a full-fledged demonstration of its capabilities based on recorded signals. The system depicted the working of a complete set of equipment for the monitoring of four spot beams of the Thuraya network. The system was configured with industrial computers configured for each of the four spot beams and with an online decryption server and a storage server for storage of the intercepted calls and SMS.

The various servers working in perfect unison showed the capability of the system to process the received L Band signals from a flat panel antenna mounted on a tripod which was kept nearby .The system demonstration provided an opportunity for a large contingent of foreign delegates to witness the capabilities of demodulation, decoding, decryption and recording of calls which could be played over a click of a mouse to hear using a set of earphones. The various screen shots were given on a lunch box PC with a triple 17’’ display showing the demodulation, decoding and decryption process, user friendly operator GUI (Graphical User Interface) and display of location of Thuraya phone on a digital map. The size and scale of the Strategic Thuraya Monitoring System as explained by the company representatives was easily evident with the capability to intercept complete Thuraya traffic.

Another system on display which attracted the attention of several delegations was the Satellite Monitoring System. The system designed to work in both C and Ku bands also depicted the technology advancement of the Indian company wherein a duplex satellite link could be completely monitored using a single industrial computer with a PCI based DSP card. The system on display showcased the capability to demodulate all the current digital modulation schemes, decode the various forward error correction (FEC) codes used in satellite communications and also be able to decompress the type digital compression technique for all known Digital Circuit Multiplexing Equipment (DCME) in the world.

All these details of CRI and the call recording would be recorded in the storage server and the details would be recorded in a MySQL based database. Control of each industrial computer with a KVM switch for checking the process was available. The operator terminal GUI was depicted on a second 100 lunchbox PC with three independent displays showing various stages of the complete process. The system is also able to monitor any international IP gateways connected on satellite networks to provide a complete recording of all IP traffic and is able to record and display emails; Chat, Web and FTP traffic on the operator GUI. A variant of the system is also available to monitor the GSM A/Abis traffic between BTS and BSC or BSC and MSC capable of providing complete mobile communication monitoring occurring over satellite communication.
