SMES 2011 live demonstration on the 2nd day of the event were a major attraction joining military and civil spectators to witness the latest drills practiced by the Special Forces Commando Regiment of Lebanese army "Tigers" and the Civil Defence diving and firemen units on the sea.

The Lebanese Commando Regiment, also called "Tigers" was founded in October 1966, and is considered the first special forces regiment in the Lebanese Armed Forces. The regiment is also a member of the Lebanese Special Operations Command and is the largest of the Lebanese special units.

The main tasks of this unit are to conduct specialized operations such as reconnaissance, unconventional warfare, Urban warfare, Combat search and rescue, and counter-terrorism. In addition to those, the regiment is tasked to sustain the internal security.
