Russia to complete delivery of BMP-3 IFV to Azerbaijan

"The deliveries are to be completed in 2018," he said. Moscow and Baku agreed on the deliveries of a major batch of weapons and hardware in 2010. Media reports said three T-90S tank battalions, self-propelled artillery, salvo fire systems and heavy flamethrowers, repair, evacuation and engineering vehicles are to be supplied. Experts estimate the cost of the contracts at up to one billion dollars. 

The BMP-3 is a Soviet tracked amphibious infantry fighting vehicle, successor to the BMP-1 and BMP-2, which entered service with the Soviet army in 1990 and made its first public appearance the same year. Kurganmashzavod of Kurgan, Russian Federation manufactures the chassis and the Instrument Design Bureau (KBP) of Tula is responsible for the turret. It is a tracked, armoured, amphibious vehicle designed to engage armoured ground and air targets while stationary, on the move and afloat.
