Iran Test-fired of new Khorramshahr ballistic missile


Iran on Friday, September 22, 2017, successfully test-fired its new ballistic missile,"Khorramshahr". The new missile was also unveiled in a military parade in Tehran.

Video footage aired by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) on Friday evening showed the missile launched from an unknown location.

The video also contained telemetry camera footage from four different angles which, according to its caption, showed the moment when the warhead of the missile was discharged.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelined of the military ceremony marking the onset of the Iraqi imposed war on Iran, Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said the Defense Ministry has manufactured Khorramshahr missile for the IRGC forces.

Khorramshahr ballistic missile has a range of 2,000 kilometers with ability to carry 1,800 kilograms multiple independently targetable reentry vehicle (MIRV), he added.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the defense sphere.
