The US-based company Harris Corporation has received $26 million in orders to provide Falcon III® tactical radios to support special operations forces in a nation in Central Asia. This is the second export contract received by Harris Corporation in one month for these radio systems. Harris won on August 17 a $11mn order from an undisclosed Middle East nation.

The orders from the Central Asia nation include the Harris RF-7800H-MP wideband HF/VHF tactical manpack radio, for expanded data capabilities in long-range, beyond-line-of-sight environments; the RF-7850S wideband secure personal radio; and the RF-7850M-HH multiband networking handheld, the first international radio to provide wideband communications and mobile ad hoc networking while supporting legacy narrowband waveforms.

The Harris Falcon III RF-7800H-MP Wideband HF/VHF Tactical Radio System builds on a half-century of innovation from Harris Corporation in high-frequency tactical communications. It is the world’s first wideband HF tactical radio, delivering expanded data capabilities to long-range, beyond-line-of-sight environments.
The radio will transform the battlefield by allowing warfighters to send and receive images and other large data files—in addition to voice—over distances that extend into the thousands of kilometers. The Harris Falcon III RF-7800H-MP Wideband HF/VHF Tactical Radio System is 20 percent smaller and lighter than previous HF manpacks and operates on a single battery. Data rates are 10 times greater than current generations of HF radios.

The RF-7850M-HH Multiband Combat Net Radio (CNR) is a multi-mission radio that combines next generation functionality and advanced capabilities to meet the requirements of network-centric warfare. Providing continuous coverage in the 30 to 512 MHz frequency range with up to 10 watts of output power, the RF-7850M-HH enables long range inter-squad and ground-to-air communications.

"The Harris radios will provide the critical, secure voice and data communications required by special operations forces engaged in combat operations," said Chris Young, president, Harris Communication Systems. "With these orders, our customer is further standardizing the use of Harris tactical communications systems by its elite forces."
