New Russian MLRS Multiple Launch Rocket System Tornado-G and Tornado-G will be delivered to the Russian Army by 2015, said Friday, September 28, 2012, during an interview with RIA Novosti, the commander of the Russian Army, Vladimir Tchirkine.

Tornado system is designed on the basis of Russian multiple rocket launchers BM-21 Grad. With a satellite guidance system, it has a range of 40 km and can carry out strikes against tanks, artillery batteries and command posts.
     

"Our main efforts will be focus to the purchase of modern weapons until 2015. Multiple Launch Rocket System Tornado Tornado-G and Tornado-S will enter in service for artillery units after approval tests", said General Tchirkine.

Russian Minister of Defense Anatoly Serdyukov has previously announced that his ministry had signed a contract with "Plants Motovilikha" of Perm for the production of more than 60 rocket launcher vehicles Tornado.

Tornado system is designed on the basis of Russian multiple rocket launchers BM-21 Grad. With a satellite guidance system, it has a range of 40 km and can carry out strikes against tanks, artillery batteries and command posts. According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, the Tornado-G is three times more efficient than its predecessors, BM-21 Grad and BM-30 Smerch.
