Iran unveils the new home-made 14.5mm Sniper rifle Shaher at Research Center of Iranian Army 2909125

Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan was invited at the ceremony was invited to the ceremony to attend a presentation of the new equipment developed by the Iranian military research center. The General said, "home-made military products will remarkably increase the army's combat capability".

The "Shaher" is a 14.5 mm caliber sniper rifle with a maximum effective range of 4,000 meters. The rifle has a weights 22 kg for a length of 185 centimeters.

With a 14.5mm caliber the new Iranian Sniper Rifle "Shaher" can be also used as anti-materiel rifle. Anti-materiel rifles are similar in form and appearance to modern sniper rifles and can often serve in that role, though they are usually chambered for cartridges more powerful than are normally required for neutralizing a human and can operate at a greater range.

The rifle is capable of targeting and destroying concrete strongholds, armored vehicles and choppers and will increase the depth of the Iranian forces' combat capability.
