Serbian defence Company YugoImport unveils new 8x8 armoured vehicle Lazar 2 at Partner 2013 2506133

At the International fair of armaments and defence equipment, Partner 2013, the Defense Company YugoImport unveils its latest wheeled armoured infantry fighting vehicle Lazar 2. The new multirole armored vehicle LAZAR 2 8x8 is based on modifications and technical solutions implemented on the functional model of LAZAR 1 vehicle.

These modifications are carried out with the purpose to further harmonize the basic characteristics of the vehicle with contemporary world trends in development of families of multi-role armored wheel-type vehicles.

The concept of LAZAR 2 represents a combination of the concept of vehicles class MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle) and MRAV (Multi-Purpose Armored Vehicle), but it is closer to the MRAV concept first of all because of introduction of independent suspension.

This concept provides for installation of different types of gun mounts, turrets and weapon compartments depending on the basic purpose of the vehicle.

At Partner 2013, the LAZAR 2 is armed with one 30mm automatic cannon and three launchers for anti-tank missile.

Kenya and Bangladesh will be the first customers of armoured vehicles produced by a new factory in Serbia. It is believed that the two countries will receive the locally developed LAZAR 1 MRAP mine-resistant, ambush protected vehicle.

Pakistan has showed some interest for the new 8x8 armoured infantry fighting vehicle LAZAR 2.
