The central government has agreed to discuss the Army’s proposal of Rs 10,000 crore related to it. With this amount, the army will form two regiments of Akash missiles and deploy them at an altitude of 15,000 feet. They will be deployed in high places like Ladakh to protect the borders with Pakistan and China.

Earlier, orders for two regiments of Akash missile were to be given to foreign companies, but the central government decided in favor of ‘Make in India’. The Union Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, recently approved the purchase of seven squadrons of surface-to-air missiles for the Air Force.Akash missile system is a medium range ground-to-air missile (Surface to Air Missile) that can work in every situation. This missile can target fighter aircraft, cruise missile, air-to-ground missile and ballistic missile.

The Akash Prime Missile will be an upgraded version of the missile system held by the Army. The Akash missile was built by the Defense Research and Development Council (DRDO) in India. It is a medium-range ground-to-air missile (Surface to Air Missile). The performance of the new Akash missiles will be better than the previous missiles. Akash missiles can hit targets with speed three and a half times the speed of sound. Equipped with special radar systems, these missiles can simultaneously track 40 enemy targets and disarm enemy targets 30 km from surface to air.
