Description
The T38 Stilet is a short range air defence missile system designed and manufactured by the Belarus Company Tetraedr. The self-contained mobile T38 STILET Air Defense Missile System (ADMS) is designed to defend Army units, industrial and military installations from the strikes of all types of modern and advanced aerial attack assets flying nap-of-the earth, at low and medium altitudes and possessing the RCS of 0.03 m² and above. The STILET ADMS provides acquisition and identification of targets on the move and at halts, as well as engagement of target with one or two missiles from a short halt or from a stationary position. The T38 Stilet program involves a substantial rebuild of the legacy SA-8 Gecko weapon system, with digital hardware replacing much of the legacy Land Roll radar system and supporting computer system for the automatic CLOS missile guidance system. The upgrade includes new operator consoles and displays, and a new electro-optical tracking subsystem. The T38 Stilet is limited in its ability to track and engage multiple targets concurrently, in comparison with the Russian built phased array equipped SA-15 and SA-22 systems.
At MILEX 2011, the Belarus Defence Company Tetraedr has presented its latest generation of mobile air defense missile base on the russian made air defense missile system SA-8 Gecko, the T38 STILET Short Range Air Defence System. The T381 combat vehicle of the Tetraedr Stilet self-propelled air-defence missile system will be displayed at the IDEX 2011 defence exhibition in the United Arab Emirates on 20-24 February - the system's first appearance outside Belarus.

Armament
The T381 launcher vehicle carries eight missile containers. There are installed in tow group of fours, one of each side of the radar block system. With twice the engagement range of the legacy SA-8 Gecko, better mobility, better ECCM capability, robust E/O engagement capability, and a faster missile round, the T38 Stilet system will be much more lethal and survivable than the legacy Gecko systems it replaces. A maximum of five minutes is needed to prepare the 381 launcher vehicle for action. Its systems can simultaneously prepare two missiles for lauch. This process takes 12 seconds, and the missiles can then be fired up to 10 minutes later. According to Tetraedr, the T38 Stilet wil have a maximum effective range of 20 km, and will be able to engage targets flying at speeds of up to 900 m/sec and heights ranging from 25 m to up 10,000 m. The T381 launcher unit vehicle is also equipped with the surveillance radar, guidance radar, two channel missile tracker and all optronic system.
Missile
The two-stage bi-caliber solid-propellant SAM T382 is designed for destruction of aerial attack assets. Throughout its service life, the missile is stored in the Transportation-and-Launch Container (TLC). The missile rudders and wings in the TLC are located X-wise, i.e. at a 450 angle relative to the container walls. The missile power unit comprises a booster (which separates after launching) and a sustainer. T382 Surface-to-Air Guided Missiles is stored in the TLC The missile radio fuse actuates a non-contact detonation of the warhead in proximity to the target, at the moment ensuring the most effective destruction of the target. The avrage speed of the missile will be 850 m/s and its expected to be capable of manoeuvring at up to 25g. its rod-fragmentation warhead weight is 18 kg.
Mobility
The T381 mobile launcher unit is the key asset of the T38 Stilet missile system. The launcher unit T381 is built on the MZKT-69222T self-propelled chassis which is based on the MZKT-6922 series truck and has a powerful diesel engine, navigational, map-positioning, life-support, communication and power-supply equipment. The newer MZKT-69222 provides better off road performance, higher road speed, better resistance to air delivered munitions, and is more reliable and maintainable.
The MZKT-6922 all-wheel-drive special wheeled chassis developed by the plant designers was manufactured in 2077. It is intended for mounting and transporting the combat vehicle of the 9A331M anti-aircraft missile system and its modification on all types of roads and surveyed terrain.
This is a three-axle six-by-six chassis with control from the first axle. Its perfect cross-country ability has been achieved by using in the design hydro mechanical transmission, a two-speed transfer case, driving axles, a high-power 420 hp diesel engine, an independent hydro pneumatic suspension and other components and parts. The control system includes steering, brake systems and a hub and information controlling system.
The chassis has its body made of steel plates and components with a built-in frame. This comprises four compartments including a control compartment, an operator compartment, an equipment compartment and an engine and transmission compartment.
The design features of the chassis enabling it to be operated at an ambient temperature of minus 40° to plus 50 °C in regions with temperate, cold and tropical dry or moist climate make the chassis a potentially excellent export item. The 12 June 2007, the first model of the MZKT-6922 special wheeled chassis was handed over the customer for mounting the required materiel on and being further delivered to Russian Army.
