United Nations Security Council approves a plan for international military intervention in Mali
 

The UN Security Council has approved a resolution that gives West African nations 45 days to offer details of a plan for international military intervention in Mali, now split in two. The text approved by the council on Friday, October 12, 2012, also urges authorities in Bamako and representatives of Tuareg rebels and Islamist fighters controlling the north to "engage, as soon as possible, in a credible negotiation process".

A Patriot surface-to-air missile battery was deployed in the northern Israeli city of Haifa on Monday, two days after an unmanned aircraft breached Israeli airspace from the Mediterranean, local media reported. Raytheon awarded a contract of U.S. government for anti-tank guided missile TOW
 

Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) received a $349 million five-year, multi-year contract to provide heavy anti-tank, wireless precision-assault missiles for the U.S. government. Raytheon received the award during its third quarter. Under this contract, Raytheon will deliver 6,676 of the new wireless TOW (tube-launched, optically tracked, wireless-guided) missiles.
