The Russian state agency of arms export Rosoboronexport announced at Euronaval 2012, the International Naval and Maritime defence exhibition of Paris the potential of enhanced collaboration with South Africa in the field of military technologies, told to RIA Novosti on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, the Director General of Rosoboronexport, Anatoly Issaïkine.

"Russia and South Africa could cooperate in several areas, including the design of missile, tracking systems and high accuracy ammunitions, as well as shipbuilding and modernization of armored vehicles and helicopters," said M.Issaïkine at Euronaval 2012 which took place in Paris, France from the 22 to 26 September 2012.
In September 2012, several defence companies from Russia attended the AAD, Africa Aerospace and Defence Exhibition in Pretoria, South Africa to present their latest military innovations and technologies. Russia has showed many weapons and armoured vehicles for the first time in Africa as the BMPT tank support combat vehicle and its new upgraded main battle tank T-72M1.
According M.Issaïkine, South Africa has "skilled specialists" and "high-quality materials."
"South Africa has its own technological military discoveries, which it sells to countries listed among world exporters of military equipment," he said.
Previously, Rosoboronexport and Spanish Navantia shipyard group have signed an agreement for the delivery of Spanish equipment for patrol vessels with Russian weapons.
