Norwegian Defence MoD choose Thales for realisation of NORMANS digitised soldier system
 

The Norwegian Defence has decided to purchase NORMANS digitised soldier system based on the concept that has been designed and tested at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI). The MoD has asked the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation to contract Thales Norway, with Teleplan Globe as partner, for delivering NORMANS.

United States U.S. Army to Procure 56 AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel Radars From ThalesRaytheonSystems
 

ThalesRaytheonSystems today announced that the U.S. Army will procure 56 Improved Sentinel Battlefield Air Defense AN/MPQ-64 Radars. ThalesRaytheonSystems has already delivered more than 220 radars to customers worldwide. The company is working with several allied nations to leverage the current production to meet their sensing requirements.

United States army and Marine Corps seek small easily transportable 'throwable' robots
 

The United States Army, Marine Corps and the Pentagon's Joint IED Defeat Organization are working to procure and deliver thousands of small, easily transportable "throwable" robots equipped with surveillance cameras designed to beam back video from confined spaces, buildings, tunnels and other potentially dangerous locations, service officials said.

The U.S. Department of Defense has ordered 70 BAE Systems lightweight M777 howitzers to begin equipping the U.S. Army’s Infantry Brigade Combat Teams (IBCTs). Valued at $134m (£87m), the order takes the U.S.-UK production programme to October 2013 and a total of 1071 guns.

Brazil government reduce taxes for the local defence industry to boost local armament companies

Some 10,000 anti-aircraft missiles are missing in Libya, a new threat for the civil aviation.
 

The NTC Of Libya ( National Transitional Council ) estimates that almost 5 000 SAM-7s from Gaddafi's stockpiles are still unaccounted for - raising concerns that the missiles could fall into the wrong hands and be used against civilian aircraft.

Successfully flight-test for the Indian Agni-II surface-to-surface ballistic missile
 

India on Friday, September 30, 2011, successfully flight-tested the surface-to-surface nuclear-capable Agni-II ballistic missile from Wheeler Island off the Orissa coast. Defence sources said the missile, which has a range of more than 2000 km, was fired from a rail mobile launcher at the Launching Complex-IV of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at 9.30 am.
