On Nov.26, KPE said the new batch of vehicles have, once more, some additional modifications and improvements to make them better suited to conditions in Kazakhstan, such as pre-launch engine heating for winter operations (down to -50 degrees Celsius), a more efficient heating system, Kazakhstan-made radio and air conditioning.

Introduced during KADEX 2016, the Arlan Reconnaissance Patrol vehicle was designed in cooperation with Kazakhstan Aselsan Engineering LLP, which added new reconnaissance systems as well as a Stabilized Advanced Remote Weapon Platform (SARP) remote-controlled turret.

The PRK-KZ reconnaissance complex allows instant processing and transfer of digital data to the command post in real-time and to carry out reconnaissance of ground and low-flying targets. It uses first a Ku-band radar featuring a 360° rotation in azimuth axis and a range of 40 km. New reconnaissance capabilities include a thermal camera with a 25 km range, a day camera with a 30 km range and a laser rangefinder with a range of 20 km and a resolution of about 5 m.

Close protection of the vehicle is now provided by the Aselsan SARP RCWS added at the front of the vehicle's roof. Depending on the operational requirements, SARP can be equipped with 12.7mm machine gun, 40mm automatic grenade launcher or 7.62mm machine gun.

The Arlan 4x4 Armored Vehicle is based on the Marauder mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicle produced by Paramount Group, located in South Africa. It has undergone testing in extreme conditions and environments across Kazakhstan; its continued winterization includes a new liquid heating system for the all-season-accommodating cabin (hosting a range of 100 degrees Celsius, from minus 50 to plus 50 Degrees Celsius).
