| Tigr armored cars delivered to Russian Special Forces in Pskov - Western Military District | |||

A batch of Tigr armored cars in a special variant has been delivered to the Western Military District’s Special Forces large unit stationed in Pskov, according to Igor Muginov, the district’s press office chief.

The Tigr is a Russian high-mobility multipurpose military vehicle, manufactured by Military-Industrial Company LLC (BMK). The GAZ-2330 "Tigr" is the military version of the vehicle and has been referred to as "the Russian Humvee".
"The production-standard Tigr has been modified to Special Forces standards and has passed its official tests. The new armored car is designed for reconnaissance, convoy escort and defense, patrolling and fire support," Muginov explained. According to him, the 4x4 car is powered by a 205-hp diesel engine. Its carrying capacity stands at 1.2 tons, with its maximum speed being 125 km/h. The Tigr accommodates eight troops. The front of the vehicle has Class 5 ballistic protection and its sides and rear have Class 3 ballistic protection. The car is equipped with a special communications system and a traversing mount on the roof for the KORD or Pecheneg machinegun or AGS-17 Plamya automatic grenade launcher. |
