A chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) defense large unit stationed in the Western Military District will have received over 20 sophisticated RKhM-6 CBRN reconnaissance vehicles before year-end, the district’s spokesman, Colonel Igor Muginov, has told journalists.

He reminded that the CBRN brigade based in the Kursk Region has formed a new unit.

"Unlike the organic RKhM-4 vehicle, the RKhM-6 is able to detect contaminated areas at a distance on the move and measure the concentration of the chemical agent out to 5 km," Major General Mikhail Chernyshov, commander of the Western Military District’s CBRN forces, explained.

He added that the latest vehicles carried an automated meteorological system and the Perunit-V satellite navigation system based on GLONASS.

In addition, the Western Military District’s CBRN units are waiting for delivery of TDA-3 smoke discharger vehicles, advanced dosimeters and other up-to-date kit.
