The Talinn-based centre’s mission is to enhance the capability, cooperation and information sharing among NATO members and partners, in the field of cyber-defence. As a centre of excellence, it is considered a knowledge hub, think-tank and training facility, which focuses on interdisciplinary applied R&D, consultations, trainings and exercises.

All Allied countries could become members of the CCDCOE. Its funding and staffing comes from member-countries. As of early November 2015, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, the UK and the USA are sponsoring nations, while Austria and Finland are contributing participants.

The Director of CCDCOE, Sven Sakkov, said: The fact that the membership of the Centre is expanding shows the growing importance of cyber defence. Cyber has evolved into a domain of warfare next to land, sea, air and space. It has changed our lives and will change warfare.
