China Defense Company NORINCO to export Sky Dragon 50 air defense missile system to Rwanda.
According the Chinese military magazine Kanwa, the Chinese Defense Company NORINCO has exported its new medium-range surface-to-air defense missile system to Rwanda. This country is the first foreign customer for the Sky Dragon 50.

This country is the first foreign customer for the Sky Dragon 50. Chinese-made NORINCO Sky Dragon 50 medium-range surface-to-air defense missile system at AirShow China 2014 in Zhuhai, China.
     
The Sky Dragon 50 was unveiled for the first time to the public during the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition 2014 (AirShow China), which was held from the 11 to 16 November 2014 in Zhuhai, China. It can effectively intercept high, medium, low and ultra-low altitude aerial targets, i.e. fixed-wing aircrafts, helicopters and UAVs, as well as engage and destroy incoming cruise missiles.

Each SKY DRAGON 50 battery consists of one IBIS 150 3D target designation radar, one fire distribution vehicle and 3 to 6 launching vehicles (carrying 4 missiles each). In this configuration, SKY DRAGON 50 is capable of engaging up to 12 different targets by firing 12 individually missiles in less than a few seconds.

Capable of engaging targets at a range of 3 - 50 km and at altitudes between 30m and 20,000m, the Sky Dragon 50 can effectively intercept high-, medium-, low- and ultra-low-altitude aerial targets.

Rwanda could have bought four Sky Dragon 50 launch vehicles.
