United Arab Emirates armed forces sign a contract of $816 million for 6x6 and 4x4 Nimr armoured.
The UAE has signed a deal to purchase AED3bn ($816m) worth of NIMR 4x4 and NIMR 6x6 armoured vehicles, it was announced on Wednesday, November 14, 2013.

The General Headquarters (GHQ) of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces and Nimr Automotive, a member of Abu Dhabi-based Tawazun group, have signed a contract which provides for the supply of Nimr 6X6 and Nimr 4X4 armoured vehicles, at a total value of more than AED3bn, the WAM news agency reported.

In February, the GHQ announced in a statement its intention to sign the deal, following successful extensive all-terrain tests for the vehicle in the UAE.

"The vehicle exceeded the GHQ's required operational standards in terms of design, performance, mobility and others," the GHQ said in a statement.

Nimr Automotive CEO, Dr Fahad Saif Harhara, said the contract coincides with the company's plans to open its new state-of-the-art facilities within Tawazun Industrial Park in Abu Dhabi to cater for increased demand for their Nimr armoured vehicles.
