Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren, representing the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, has informed the Dutch parliament of this strategic decision through a formal communication.

The Zr.Ms. Holland is expected to depart from the Netherlands mid-month and will arrive in the operational area approximately one and a half weeks later. The duration of its mission will be contingent upon evolving circumstances in the region.

This move comes amidst escalating tensions and the swift development of the armed conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has significantly affected the populations of both Israel and the Palestinian territories.

Gaza, in particular, faces a dire situation with an urgent need for humanitarian assistance. Expediting land access to the area is a priority, but maritime and aerial options are also being considered. Details regarding the operational deployment of Zr.Ms. Holland are being finalized in close coordination with international allies.
