BBI Detection presents its IMASS devices for the first time in Poland at MSPO 2016
BBI Detection showcases its innovative Integrated Multiplex Assay and Sampling System (IMASS) device for explosive or biothreat detection, designed to simplify testing in stressful situations. The IMASS device provides a crucial advance in rapid explosive or biothreat testing for military, police, border and other first responders.

The device is used to directly sample powders, surfaces, solids and liquids using an integrated sponge. A number of test strips are then run simultaneously from the sample, giving visual results for military explosives and multiple homemade explosive components in 3 minutes for the explosive detection device and results for eight biothreat agents in 15 minutes for the biothreat detection one. Its robust design means that the IMASS™ device is straightforward to run and to read, even while wearing full protective equipment.

The biothreat detection IMASS device contains coded test strips to detect up to 8 biothreat agents which are among those noted by the US CDC as being the highest risk if utilised in a terrorist attack. These are: Bacillus anthracis, Ricin, Francisella tularensis, Yersinia pestis, Burkholderia mallei, Brucella spp., Botulinum Toxin A and B, and Staphylococcal Enterotoxin B.

The explosive detection IMASS device contains immunoassays which specifically identify TNT, RDX and PETN and their derivatives such as Semtex, C3, C4 and HMX. Colorimetric tests within the device give results for common homemade explosive components; ammonium, nitrate and sugar.

Several civilian and military authorities around the world use the IMASS device and BBI Detection is currently developing new detection solutions.
