New Beretta PMX 9mm caliber Sub-machine gun

The new Beretta PMX sub-machine gun. in 9x19 mm (9mm Parabellum) caliber, is developed specifically for the demanding needs of Law Enforcement and Military users around the world Reliability, accuracy, and safety were the main guidelines when it was developed the PMX project.

The extensive use of polymer materials and light alloy metals allowed the design of a compact, lightweight, yet rugged design, one which is versatile and easy to deploy in combat. The major components: barrel and bolt, are machined from a special high-strength steel, specifically designed to withstand the rigors of harsh environments and abusive conditions. The barrel is cold-hammer forged featuring a 254 mm rifling (right-handed).

The field stripping procedures have been reduced to a minimum in order to take down the PMX sub-machine gun in a few seconds without the use of tools.

To reduce wear and guarantee corrosion resistance, special surface finishes and treatments are dedicated to the metal parts of the firing mechanisms and on the areas where friction between components exists. The result is a reduction of maintenance operations, time and frequency.

The three-position fire selector, conveniently located on both sides of the polymer lower receiver is easy accessible for right and left-handed use. It permits the selection between safe, single and full auto fire.

The selector safety blocks the trigger/hammer and an automatic firing pin block prevents forward movement of the firing pin unless the trigger is fully pulled or in case the submachine gun is accidentally dropped. A bolt-open lever holds the bolt open and rearward after the last round is fired. This allows the user to immediately determine that the sub-machine gun does not have a round in the chamber or in the magazine.

The operation of the PMX is based on a blow-back system design with closed- bolt firing mode.

With this new product, the Italian Company Beretta offers a new generation of 9mm submachine using latest technologies to produce modern firearms.
