Description 
The G28 is a military version of the civilian competition rifle MR308 for the highest standards with regard to a warranted and repeatable accuracy of 1.5 MOA maximum. Performing a high first round hit probability on chest size targets up to 600 meters the G28 also provides precise suppression fire against man-size targets up to 800 meters. The G28 in standard and patrol configuration was presented for the first time at Milipol 2011, security exhibition in Paris, France. The German Magazine Strategie & Technik announced in September 2011, that the new G28 is in service in the German army.

Design
The G-28 is a semi-automatic rifle. The G28 has a chromed-lined 16.5" barrel (16.5" is the new standard for DMR rifles, 18"+ is last century). Fully loaded with optics, it will weigh in at 7.89 kg. H&K will also be suppling a conversion kit with a shorter and lighter barrel. The G28 has a length of approximately 980 mm for a weight just under 7,9 kg, and a barrel lenght of 420 mm. The G28 is compatible STANAG 4694 for accessory rails and mounts. The G28 is equipped with an telescopic stock with adjustable cheek rest. Heckler & Koch has thought about the compatibility of he weapon with approximately 120 parts (75%) are interchangeable with the HK417 assault rifle.
Ammunition
Ammunition, designated 7.62mmx51 DMR, has been designed specifically for the gun.
Accessories
The G-28 can be issued with two telescopic sight, Schmidt & Bender PMII 3-20x50/DMR reticle according to international Mildot standard/Full reticle illumination/Laserfilter DIN-EN 207-L4/ paralax compensation or Schmidt & Bender PMII l-8x24/DMR reticle according to international Mildot standard/Full reticle illumination/Laserfilter DIN-EN 207-L4/ Combined red dot and reticle illumination.
