Sig Sauer P320 X-Carry pistol for Danish army

The Sig Sauer P320 won the procurement competition to equip the Danish armed forces, as it already did for US armed forces. The pistol is expected to be delivered to all units by the end of 2019.

Four guns were tested under all conceivable conditions by users of the Special Operations, Military Police, Air Force and Army. The P320 proved to be the best candidate in the four-week trial period. The test program had been prepared by Hærens Kamp- og Ildstøttecenter (HKIC) in cooperation with FMI. The pistols were also tested by experts from Direct Shooting Weapons (DSV) at HKIC.

The pistols are purchased in two versions: a standard one and a compact one. They will replace all the pistols currently used by the armed forces, such as the M/49, often called Neuhausen.

The new P320 fires 9x19mm rounds. It can accommodate a significantly larger magazine capacity: 21 rounds, whereas the old M/9 had only eight. The P320 can receive a silencer, tactical sight laser, white light bulb and red-point sight. All of these are sought-after improvements that more support the Danish soldier's need for a modern gun.
