Artillery units used 120mm 2S34 Khosta self-propelled artillery systems to deliver indirect fire against targets simulating enemy forces sheltered in a settlement. Motor rifle units encircled the settlement and fired weapons mounted on BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, being supported by T-90A tanks. Then, assault units mopped up the settlement.

The operation of the units was monitored with the use of unmanned aerial vehicles that transmitted data to the command post in real-time. During the exercise, assault platoons interacted with rapid response teams. Besides, the servicemen practiced tunnel warfare tactics and the fire carousel technique.

The maneuvers in the Volgograd Region involved more than 1,000 servicemen and over 300 items of military and special hardware, including BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, T-90A tanks, Tornado-G multiple launch rocket systems, 2S19 Msta-S self-propelled artillery systems, Tor-M2 (NATO code: SA-15 Gauntlet) air defense missile systems and attack and army aircraft.
