On Saturday 21st March, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the country’s armed forces had tracked two North Korean short-range ballistic missile launches into the Sea of Japan. The launches took place from a launch site near North Korea’s Sonchon county in North Pyongan province. The launches were five minutes apart, with the first at 6:45 a.m. and the second at 6:50 a.m. local time, Ankit Panda reports in The Diplomat.

Singaporean Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen and Australian Minister for Defence Linda Reynolds signed a Treaty on Military Training and Training Area Development in Australia on 23 March at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Singapore and the Parliament House in Canberra, Australia, respectively. Southern Military District forces have taken part in a bilateral company-level tactical exercise at the Prudboy training range in the Volgograd Region in south Russia to practice operations in an NBC environment, the Defense Ministry’s press office said: “While marching to the assigned area, Russian Southern Military District servicemen practiced countering a simulated enemy’s aerial attacks, negotiating notional contaminated zones and passing jamming areas".

According to a tweet released on March 19, 2020, on the Official Twitter account of US Army, the US Army completed a new test of the Extended Range Cannon Artillery system (ERCA), hitting a target over 40 miles (65 km) away. The ERCA (Extended Range Cannon Artillery) itself is a massive undertaking in that everything is under development at the same time and it’s a platform that needs to be compatible with multiple howitzer configurations, multiple projectiles and multiple missions.

The U.S. Department of Defense successfully tested a hypersonic glide body in a flight experiment conducted from the Pacific Missile Range Facility, Kauai, Hawaii, March 19 at approximately 10:30 p.m. local time (HST).
