MEADS International hosts a Polish delegation for the Wisla medium-range air defense program
Focusing on use of Italian gallium nitride (GaN) technology, MEADS International (MI) has hosted a delegation headed by Secretary of State Bartosz Kownacki in the Polish Ministry of National Defense (MoND) at the facilities of MBDA Italia and LEONARDO. As part of its technology focus for the Wisla medium-range air defense program, MI anticipates a valued partnership leading to production of GaN sensors for Polish radars, including MEADS.

The visit follows an updated cost briefing on Wisla to MoND in January 2017.

Developed in Europe, GaN technology developed by LEONARDO can be made available to Polish Industry in association with the Wisla contract. Advanced capabilities, partnership and a proven technology transfer methodology remain key characteristics of the MEADS Technology Transfer Plan.

“We are again pleased with this opportunity to discuss MEADS with the Secretary of State and his interest in MEADS,” said Howard Bromberg, Lockheed Martin Vice President for Strategy and Business Development, Air and Missile Defense. “Because MEADS has already proven the capabilities Poland requires, we are convinced that it represents the lowest risk solution and most affordable solution to this critical defense need.”

MEADS International, a multinational joint venture headquartered in Orlando, Florida, is the prime contractor for the MEADS system. Major subcontractors and joint venture partners are MBDA in Italy and Germany, and Lockheed Martin in the United States.
