Another two regiment sets of S-400 systems will arrive for the Defense Ministry in October, the press office added.

"He [Almaz-Antey Corporation CEO Yan Novikov] said that there were plans to complete the work for the transfer of S-400 Triumf air defense missile systems to the Russian Defense Ministry ahead of schedule this year," the press office said.

"The Russian Defense Ministry will receive the 12th, the 13th and the 14th regiment sets of S-400 air defense missile systems before the end of September 2016 and the 15th and the 16th regiment sets of S-400 systems will arrive for the Defense Ministry in October 2016," the press office added.

"The 12th regiment set of S-400 air defense missile systems has already been formed and is being adjusted now. It will become the first regiment set to arrive for the Russian Defense Ministry this year," the press office quoted Novikov as saying.

The Almaz-Antey Corporation will also deliver three battalions of Buk-M2 (SA-17 Grizzly) air defense missile systems to the Russian Defense Ministry in 2016.

The Russian Defense Ministry received the same number of Buk-M2 air defense missile systems in 2015.

"The Almaz-Antey Corporation will deliver three battalions of Buk-M2 medium-range air defense missile systems to the Russian Defense Ministry this year under the state defense order," the press office quoted Corporation CEO as saying.

The Buk-M2 air defense missile system was developed in 1988 but its serial production started 15 years later.
The Buk-M2 system is considered to be one of the most efficient air defense missile systems today.

It was reported earlier that the Russian Defense Ministry would receive the first set of Buk-M3 air defense missile systems in 2016. The Buk-M3 air defense missile system is a new upgrade of the Buk-M2 system.

According to a TASS source in Russia’s Defense Ministry, the Buk-M3 air defense missile system has an operational radius of 70 kilometers (43.5 miles), which is 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) more, compared to its predecessor.

The Buk-M3 system has a maximum target engagement altitude of 35 kilometers (21.7 miles), the source added.
