The missile division has already started receiving Yars missile systems, the press office added. "The rearmament of the division with new RS-24 Yars missile systems has already started. The division is expected to put a regimental set of Yars missile systems into operation by the end of the year," the press office quoted Strategic Missile Force Commander Colonel-General Sergei Karakayev as saying. The division will also receive new unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

"Unmanned aerial vehicles will be delivered to the division as part of its rearmament," Karakayev said.

Karakayev visited the Irkutsk missile division to monitor a command and staff exercise, during which robotic systems and unmanned aerial vehicles were used to counteract a simulated enemy’s sabotage groups.

The robotic systems are designed to conduct reconnaissance in position areas of missile divisions, provide assistance to servicemen, as well as protect and defend missile systems.

In all, the command and staff exercise involves more than 4,000 servicemen and about 400 items of military hardware.
