North Korea has fired seven surface-to-air missiles into waters off its east coast, South Korean officials said on Friday, in the country’s latest missile test coinciding with joint United States-South Korean military exercises. The missiles were launched on Thursday, March 12, evening and landed in the sea after flying as far as about 125 miles, said a spokesman for the South Korean Defense Ministry, who spoke on the customary condition of anonymity.

The project costing up to £100 million (€141 million) aims to create a high-energy laser that can track and hit moving targets in any weather.

Russian Central Military District's military units located in Siberia have received advanced UAVs “Takhion”, the press office of the Russian Armed Forces announced today, Thursday March 12.  "The Takhion drones, the most advanced unmanned aerial vehicles, have entered service at the Russian Central Military District's intelligence units, stationed in Siberia," the press service said. The Takhion drones are expected to boost combat capabilities of Russian reconnaissance troops.

The Russian armed forces have ordered a batch of 50 Bulat SBA-60-K2 6x6 armoured personnel carriers from the russian manufacturer Zashcita. The first 15 are to be delivered before the end of 2015. The Bulat 6x6 is a variant of the BPM-97 Vystrel  4x4 armoured vehicle personnel carrier.

The Obama administration on Wednesday announced an additional 75 millions dollars in non- lethal aid to Ukraine in parallel with sanctions on more rebel leaders. Included in the package are radios, secure communications equipment, unmanned aerial vehicles, counter-mortar radars, medical equipment including first aid kits, medical supplies and military ambulances, White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters at a daily news briefing.

The acceptance of a new batch of 24 BMD-4M and BTR-MDM from Kurgan machine plant was held by the servicemen of the Tula Airborne formation. All the vehicles underwent maintenance procedures and were put in storage. After the acceptance they will be ceremoniously handed over to the crews. Two Airborne battalions are to be equipped with the newest amphibious infantry fighting vehicles BMD-4M and armoured personnel carriers BTR-MDM by the end of 2015.
