Pro-Russian troops have taken the control of the Ukrainian naval headquarters in Sevastopol.
Pro-Russian troops have taken the control of the Ukrainian naval headquarters in Crimea’s Sevastopol port. Moscow denies deploying extra troops, and pro-Russian soldiers in the region are wearing unmarked uniforms.

Several Ukrainian servicemen have left, the Russia flag is flying and there are reports that Ukrainian navy chief Serhiy Hayduk has been detained.

An officer inside the base told the BBC that some 200 pro-Russian activists had broken down the gates and gone inside to negotiate with Ukrainian officers.

Yesterday, one Ukrainian serviceman was killed and another injured in an attack near a Simferopol base.

Ukraine's defence ministry reported a similar incident at a its navy base in Novo-Ozyorne, in western Crimea.

Considering the death of Ukrainian Warrant Officer Kakurin S.V. during the assault of the 13th Photogrammetric Center of the Central Directorate of Operations Support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Simferopol) by persons wearing the military uniform of Russian servicemen without any insignia and armed by automatic gun and sniper rifle, the Ukrainian servicemen deployed in Crimea are allowed using the arms to protect themselves by the Decision of Acting Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces of Ukraine and Acting Minister of Defense of Ukraine, following the order of the Chief of General Staff.
