Since many years, Slovak army uses Russian-made helicopters as the M-17 HIP.

"The appropriate resolutions will be adopted in the coming months. As Slovakia becomes the first member country of the European Union to launch the Russian military equipment manufacturing under license, I do not exclude the possibility of further similar contracts" , the official said after a meeting of the intergovernmental commission Russo-Slovak held in Moscow.

M.Rogozine has also indicated that Moscow and Bratislava also planned to expand cooperation in the field of maintenance and manufacturing of Russian helicopters in Slovakia.

As a non-NATO member Russia had no right to repair avionics and communication systems for helicopters sold in Slovakia, these equipment must to be on NATO standards.
