“Any foreign military operation against Libya will expose all the air and maritime traffic in the Mediterranean”, said a spokesperson of the Libyan ministry of Defence confirmed by the Jana official agency. “Any civil or military planes or ships component will be the target of a Libyan counter-offensive”, it added. “And the Mediterranean will be exposed to a serious danger not only in the short time but also in the long time”.

This announce come a few hours before a vote envisaged at the UN on a draft Resolution forcing a no-fly zone to block on the ground the Kaddafi air forces. The Libyan army had announced to stop before Sunday its military operations, according to Jana. “The Libyan Ministry of Defence decided to stop military operations against the terrorist armed bands from Sunday 00:00 (22H00 GMT) (...) to give a chance of rebels to give their weapons and that they benefit from a decision of general amnesty”, according to the agency.
