Iran unveiled its first home-made multipurpose micro fighter jet.

 
 
Iran unveiled its first home-made multipurpose micro fighter jet in a ceremony attended by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei. The Iranian Dorna Aerospace Company has designed the micro fighter jets, which was unveiled in the Strategic Technologies Exhibition here in Tehran. Reports also said that Iranian experts have designed and produced a training fighter jet on actual scale, and the prototype jet has passed the relevant tests successfully.The prototype model has opened the way for designing and producing low-cost training fighter jets, long-range fighter jets capable of flying in high altitudes and guided cruise fighter jets with the capability of flying in low altitudes.

Iran has recently made good progress in the air industry and has succeeded in gaining the technical know-how for producing stealth aircraft and drones.

Iran also witnessed the maiden flight of its pilotless trainer aircraft in June at a ceremony held to mark the re-launch of renovated Mig-29.

In September 2009, Iran displayed the first squadron of Saeqeh (Thunderbolt) fighter jets produced by its defense industries in an air show staged during military parades at the beginning of the Week of Sacred Defense, marking Iranians' sacrifices during the 8 years of Iraqi imposed war on Iran in 1980s.
