In 2011, the radiological, chemical and biological units of the Russian Army will be equipped with new weapons and the most modern military equipment, including rocket flamethrower, announced on March 04, 2011, Sergueï Vlassov, spokesperson of the Russian ministry of Defense.

“Russian army will buy this year a new modification of flamethrowers RPO PDM-A and modern radiological, chemical and biological recognition vehicle RKhM-6”, announced to RIA Novosti the lieutenant-colonel, Vlassov.

It added, we would improve combativeness of our troops, the new rocket flamethrower being a powerful infantry weapon making it possible to destroy the lifeblood of the enemy on the battle fields and inside the buildings, as well against the light armoured vehicles. Its maximum range of shooting reaches 1.700 meters and the precision shooting is guaranteed to 800 meters.

“These flamethrowers proved reliable during the operation aiming at forcing Georgia with peace (in August 2008, note)”, indicated the interlocutor of the agency.

According to the spokesperson of the ministry of Defense, “the need for equipping the Russian troops with the most powerful radiological, chemical and biological recognition equipment in most powerful is not only for military reason, but also dictated by the increasing of international terrorism threat, in particular in the nuclear and chemical domains”.
