Division over command of Libyan campaign could be an advantage for Kadhafi military forces 2203111

Anti aircraft fire rang out over Tripoli for a third successive night as coalition forces bombarded Libya once more. Air defences and forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi were the targets. The European countries wish that the operations be under the commandement of NATO.

French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle is now in position in the Mediterranean with over 20 warplanes on board

Naval bases were reported hit on the outskirts of the capital while radar installations at two air defence bases near Benghazi were struck.

But while the allied campaign continues there is division over who should command future operations. Italy’s bases are being used by participating nations but Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is calling for NATO to take charge otherwise he will restrict their use.

But NATO’s involvement is not what France wants. With the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle now in position in the Mediterranean its military says things are going well as they are.

The Arab League estimated that the operations under the control of Paris, London and Washington are not limited under the resolution of UN.

Germany did not vote for this resolution. Italy estimates that it is not UN which must make the decisions, and wishes that NATO take the command of the operations in Libya.

This situation could benefit for the Forces of Colonel Khadafy, indeed, if the European countries do not find a solution concerning the management of these operations.
