The President of the Republic of Macedonia
is the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. He approves
the defence plans and strategy, takes decisions about
implementing alertness, approves the organisation
and structure of the Armed Forces, and orders mobilisation.

The land forces of Macedonian army are around 7,700
soldiers with the structure:
- 1 mechanised infantry brigade, 1 reserve infantry
brigade, 1 aviation wing, 1 armoured battalion, 1
artillery battalion, 1 MP battalion, 1 signals battalion,
1 air defence battalion, 1 NBC Company. 3 logistic
battalions, 1 logistic engineer battalion, 1 honour
guard battalion, 1 Special Operations regiment, 1
electronic warfare centre, 1 air surveillance operations
centre.
