Russian Western Military district receives new batch of T-72B3M main battle tank
The Western Military District received a new batch of modernized T-72B3M army tanks, the press service of the district said.

"The 15 combat vehicles which passed control tests and are equipped with the latest technologies will become operational in the combined arms formation deployed in Moscow region," it said. The modernized T-72B3M tanks have a more powerful engine of 1130HP and an upgraded complex of armaments.

The tank has a new targeting system with a digital display and a rearview camera.The armor was also upgraded and reinforced with a side shield with active Relikt armor modules, outboard slat armor and the latest active armor modules in a soft hull. According to US Military Balance publication, the Russian army has 800 modernized T-72B3M tanks.

They are armed with a 125mm 2A46M-5 gun which can also fire antitank guided missiles. Road speed of the tank is 65 kilometers per hour. It has additional active armor modules. The targeting complex can identify objects at a distance of 4000 meters in daytime. The combat vehicle weights 46 tons.
