Azerbaijan takes delivery of new Russian military equipment including BMP-3 Khrizantema.
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has announced Saturday, June 24, 2017 the delivery a large batch of Russian weapons and military equipment including anti-tank vehicle BMP-3 Khrizantema. These weapoms will be sent to the front line in disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, said the Azerbaijani Defense ministry.

According the website Azeri Defence, a large batch of BMP-3 Khrizantema (AT-15 Springer) anti-tank missile systems arrived this week at the port in Baku, Azerbaijan. .

"A planned delivery of the latest Russian military equipment to Azerbaijan has been carried out in accordance with the intergovernmental agreement and within the framework of successfully developing defense industry cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation," the ministry said in a statement.

These weapons will strengthen the combat and maneuver capabilities of the forward-based units of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan to defeat armored vehicles, engineering and fortification structures, low-speed air targets, military personnel and other military facilities of the enemy.

All the military equipment were delivered in accordance with an agreement on military-technical cooperation signed between Azerbaijan and Russia.

The Azerbaijani Army is considered as the most modern army in the Caucasus, consists of Air Force and Air Defense Forces, the Navy, and the Land Forces.

The BMP-3 Khrizantema is an anti-tank armoured vehicle based on BMP-3 IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle). The hull roof has been modified and, mounted on the hull roof, between the second and third road wheels, is an elevated arm which carries two Khrizantema (NATO code AT-15) anti-tank guided missile system in the ready to launch position.

Missiles are re-loaded automatically by the tank destroyer from an internal magazine with 15 rounds and can also accept munitions manually loaded from outside the vehicle. The manufacturer claims that three 9P157-2 tank destroyers are able to engage 14 attacking tanks and destroy at least sixty percent of the attacking force.
