Russia has tested its new home-made intercontinental ballistic missile Roubej.

"We tested Thursday night the Roubej system equipped with an intercontinental ballistic missile with high accuracy. The firing was a success, all the blocks have reached the target. Another firing is required to complete the tests. After, the Roubej system will be delivered to the Russian army. The first regiment equipped with these missiles will be deployed in 2014, "said the general Zaroudnitski during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin with officers promoted to higher ranks.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, who oversees the defense industry, hailed Thursday’s tests as a success and dubbed the new ICBM a “missile defense killer.”

“Neither current nor future American missile defense systems will be able to prevent that missile from hitting a target dead on,” he said, during an event organized by the ruling United Russia party.

The Russian army is busy to create the appropriate infrastructure, make the training of staff and soldiers of the new missile Roubej, according to the general Zaroudnitski.

"The Roubej missile has better characteristics than the Russian missiles already in service. This will expand the potential of the Russian nuclear forces," added the official.
