China completed acceptance of Russian-made S-400 air defense missile system

China completed the acceptance of Russia-supplied first regimental set of S-400 Triumph air defense missiles, a military-diplomatic source said. The contract between Russia and China for S-400 delivery was reported in November 2014. In November 2015 presidential aide for military-technical cooperation Vladimir Kozhin confirmed the report.

"An acceptance act was signed last week for the first S-400 regimental set which Russia delivered by sea in May. The weapons have become Chinese property since the signing of the document," the source said.

The Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation refused comment.

S-400 Triumph (SA-21 Growler by NATO classification) is a Russian antiaircraft intermediate and long-range missile system to destroy modern and perspective aerospace attack means. It can destroy aerodynamic targets at a distance up to 400 km and tactical ballistic targets with a speed of 4.8 km/s (cruise missiles, tactical and strategic aircraft, ballistic missile warheads) at a distance of up to 60 km.

Its radars detect air targets at a distance of 600 km. Guided antiaircraft missiles 48N6E3 can hit aerodynamic targets at altitudes from 10 to 27 thousand meters and ballistic targets - from 2 to 25 thousand meters.

China became the first foreign customer of the air defense weapons and has to receive two regimental sets of S-400.
