Turkey is going to produce Azerbaijan's "Istiglal" 12.7 mm Anti-Material Sniper Rifle.
 
Turkey is going to produce 12.7mm Istiglal sniper rifle (IST-12.7 Anti-Material Rifle) created by Azerbaijani engineers, Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKEK) of Turkey told APA.

The transfer of the necessary technologies is being realized within the framework of the agreement reached with Azerbaijan.

The company said the sniper rifle to be produced in MKEK facilities will differ a little from the original. The weapon will be improved with the participation of Turkish and Azerbaijani experts. It is planned to reduce the weight of the weapon, extend barrel life, facilitate its usage.

The rifles to be produced in Turkey will be first offered to Turkish Armed Forces, as well as to foreign customers within the framework of the cooperation of MKEK – Defense Industry Ministry.

IST-12.7 fires 12.7x108mm bullets. It weighs 16 kg, has 2000 meters of effective range.
