SRC, Inc.’s AN/TPQ-49 Radar system supported the Canadian Armed Forces, providing air surveillance for the 2018 G7 Summit in Charlevoix, Quebec. The radar system added to mission success by providing persistent air surveillance using SRC’s LSTAR software, a program that specifically tunes the radar for optimal detection of airborne targets, both large and small.

The Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Javelin Joint Venture was awarded a production contract for 2,100 Javelin FGM-148F, marking the initial full-rate production agreement to replace the Javelin-E, Lockheed said on January 30. The first F-Model round deliveries are planned for early 2020.

On 23 January, abundant snowfall could not stop a visit of a big group of second and fourth year cadets of Kharkov National Academy of National Guard of Ukraine. On 11 January, Jorge Domecq, the EDA Chief Executive, started a two-day visit to Vilnius where he had talks with the Lithuanian Minister of National Defence, Raimundas Karoblis, as well as with Vice-Minister Giedrimas Jeglinskas. He also met with representatives of Lithuanian industry associations. Mr Domecq furthermore attended the ‘Snow Meeting 2019’, an annual event organized by the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss common security challenges.

Iran's newly developed drone named Kaman 12 was unveiled at Eqtedar 40 defense exhibition on 30 January. The Kaman 12 UAV can fly up to 10 hours at a maximum spedd of 200 km/h speed. It has an operational radius of 1,000 km. Its payload tops at 100 kg.

The first Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV) fielded in the U.S. Army began arriving at Fort Stewart two weeks ago. The first six vehicles were delivered to their respective battalions on January 28.

The U.S. Marine Corps is looking to plus up the firepower aboard its new amphibious combat vehicle with a 30mm cannon, Todd South reports on The Marine Times. Officials with Marine Corps Systems Command posted a request for information on the government website FedBizOpps on 28 January. The ACV will replace the aging assault amphibious vehicle, which entered service in the early 1970s.

Optex Systems Holdings, a manufacturer of precision optical sighting systems for domestic and worldwide military and commercial applications, announced a $1.0 million order associated with its continuing support of the M1 Abrams Tank Program. The products will be manufactured at the Applied Optics Center (AOC) Division of Optex Systems, Inc. With this order, Optex’s current backlog stands at over $25.6 million.

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems will test the Trophy APS (Active Protection System) on Germany’s Leopard 2 main battle tanks, The Jerusalem Post has reported. The Belgian company has signed a big contract with the Belgian federal police to provide armored sedans, reports the Belgian financial newspaper L'Echo. This is a seven-year contract to supply approximately seven cars a year, starting in 2019, to replace the aging armored sedans.
