Ukraine Ukroboronprom has manufactured 50 BTR-3 APCs for Ukrainian army and National Guard.

The Ukrainian State Defense Company UKroboronprom has announced to its website, January 5, 2017, the manufacturing of 50 BTR-3 8x8 armoured personnel carrier for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the National Guard.

The state enterprise “Kyiv Armored Plant” has launched this year a new production facility to produce the hull of the BTR-3. This new factory will increase manufacturing operations and reduce costs for future projects.
The BTR-3 is an 8x8 armoured vehicle personnel carrier (APC) designed and manufactured by the Ukrainian defense Company Morozov Machine Design Bureau. The layout of the vehicle is similar to the Russian-made BTR-80, but for the BTR-3, the roof troops compartment was raised of 15cm. The vehicle can carried a total of 9 military personnel including commander, driver, gunner and 6 infantrymen. The BTR-3 is fitted with an unmanned weapon station armed with a 30mm cannon and anti-tank guided missile launchers mounted to the right side of the turret. |
